STI Stopper II Accessories and Replacement Parts
These accessories can greatly extend the usefulness of the
Stopper II device. Conduit spacers are available in red, green,
blue, yellow and clear (shown at right) for applications where
an exposed backbox or conduit is necessary. Mounting
backplate available for use on irregular surfaces, and is
recommended for weather applications. Also available are
weather gaskets, heater kit for operation in cold weather
areas, 1/2 in. and 3/4 in. conduit gaskets, 3/32 in. Allen
wrench, and a replacement horn complete with 9 VDC battery.
Grills and louvers are available for the spacer units to help
eliminate fogging inside the Stopper II in outdoor applications.

It was a problem that has plagued school
principals and thousands of administrators
before and since. But over two decades ago
Garnett L. Hegeman, Jr., principal of a
suburban Detroit high school, was
desperate. As he recalls: "We were between
a large rock and a hard place. Things were so Mr. Hegeman today
bad, our custodian felt he had to disconnect our manual pull
stations. Then the state fire marshal threatened me with jail if I
didn’t turn them back on. So I did, of course. And false fire
alarms got progressively worse."
He turned to a longtime friend. "Jack, we need your help in
stopping false fire alarms. They create havoc—which we don’t
want." He was speaking to Jack Taylor, Safety Technology
